"The hotel has a wonderful location, close to good restaurants and cafés. The pool is clean, breakfast delicious, room had balcony and wiew over the ocean. Very friendly and helpful staff."

"The pool is great. Lovely views on to some surfers. The bedroom we had was lovely, with a huge balcony! (Room 3) staff were fantastic. It’s easy to walk or get a tuktuk to town centre."

"Incredible location overlooking and accessing the same beach as much more expensive hotels. It’s an old traditional building with comfortable beds. Room was large and very clean. Beautiful pool. Always many helpful staff around to answer questions or order a tuktuk. There was a problem with the lock on our door so we were quickly moved to a different room."

"Nice comfortable accomodation right on the ocean with a beautiful view. The room was cool, clean and spacious."

"It’s a bit expensive and the breakfast options are limited. With all the cafes around I’d maybe suggest going out. The hotel also does not have signage which made it a bit annoying to find. No tea/kettle in the room."

"Excellent beachfront location with beautiful balcony view, AC in each room. Friendly staff and card accepted."

"In off season their bar and restaurant was closed and breakfast we ordered in the evening if we wanted anything other than eggs and toast. But a nice restaurant over the road but only cash accepted. Pool could do with a clean. Can go on the beach but need to walk along a bit to enter the sea as there is rocks/coral."

"We loved the attention to detail and the sense of design style. It's a feast for the eyes and senses. It's kept in tip top condition . Nice pool with shady areas, carefully managed grounds. Good breakfast. The staff were delightful. It's a quiet, peaceful oasis - just a few steps along a lane that takes you away from the hustle and bustle. Negombo is a useful place to stay for proximity to the airport."

"I don’t often leave reviews but this deserves one -I had a really great stay at Riverside Cabana. The room was clean and comfortable, right on the river. There were a few mosquitoes as expected by the water, but the mosquito nets and the little incense burners (coils) they provided worked well. The wildlife around the property was cool too. Early in the morning I saw a couple of crocodiles in the river, monkeys, several birds, and even a water monitor. The highlight was two toucans that sat in a tree right in front of me for ages — incredible to watch. The family who runs the place are really lovely, but the best part of my stay was the host, Dimu. He truly looked after me and went out of his way to make sure I had a good experience. He took the time to show me a few cool local spots on his scooter. Nothing was too much trouble. What a legend. Highly recommended if you want a relaxed stay close to nature."
