"The rooms did not correspond to the photo shown when booking. The bathrooms were extremely dated and the showers and sink very uncomfortable and small. The veranda was dirty and full of cobwebs. When confronted , the response of the hotel was that each room is different. The spa area did not have a reception with clean towels and the floors were constantly wet. The most annoying part was when we went down to breakfast we were not allowed to sit wherever we wanted but our table was preset by the staff - we asked to sit by the window the following morning and when we went down we were again given a table without a view."

The location is simply stunning — I absolutely love Kandersteg, and this hotel captures its charm perfectly. The property is elegant and welcoming, with a peaceful atmosphere and attentive service. "This is a huge hotel, with an enormous bar, and spacious spa area. Our room was enormous. The staff were very friendly. The surrounding area is stunning, and you are in a great location for walking. The hotel is dog friendly."

"If you are on Foote, it’s a bit of a trek into town. Whilst we were there at the hotel wasn’t very full, and it did feel a little eerie. The decor in parts of the hotel was a little worn."

"The location is stunning. It’s surrounded by the mountains, hiking trails start right behind the property. It’s all very woody and spacious. The staff is outstandingly friendly and like I said in the title I have never felt my dog so welcomed. They even made a reservation for me and her at the restaurant (whereas most places don’t allow dogs in the restaurants). That‘s the main reason for the high rating. The dinner menu was exquisite. I also enjoyed their saunas."
